About Saloma
Whilst working as a midwife, I have been impressed with the benefits of massage in providing pain relief as well as relaxation to women throughout their pregnancy and during labour.
In addition, because of my medical training, I have become aware of the damaging effects long-term stress can have on our bodies. Stress can really be viewed as a silent or hidden killer. Our body's reaction to stress is extremely important and was originally intended for our survival e.g. so that we can run away from danger. However, when our bodies are responding to chronic stress (the type we are not always even aware of) our cells, tissues, organs and systems can be damaged. This is why numerous links have been discovered between long-term stress and most of the diseases we are now familiar with. It is with this in mind that I trained and moved into the area of massage.
Amongst many other benefits, massage increases the circulation of oxygen and vital nutrients to all tissues in the body, removes toxins, reduces tension within muscles and provides relaxation. It is therefore one of the most effective ways to counteract the negative effects of stress, promoting not only physical health but psychological health as well.
